Rainer Humberside young person
Premier League players give youngsters a chance
19 November 2007
Young people from Rainer Wigan took part in the football game of their lives this week when they found themselves running alongside two premier league players - Titus Bramble and Fitz Hall of Wigan Athletic.
Titus and Fitz had given a day up for Rainer as part of the Premier League's Creating Chances 'Places for Players' programme. After taking part in the fiercely competitive six-a-side match at the Soccer Dome in Wigan, they visited Rainer's Wigan services to answer young people's questions and present awards.
Rainer Wigan provides intensive support to young people between 16 and 25, to help them to maintain a secure home and live independently. Support areas include basic life skills such as budgeting and cooking, assistance with moving into education, training or employment or help accessing healthcare.
Speaking after the match, Rainer Service Manager Paul Weaver said:
"Playing alongside two premier league footballers is certainly not something our young people have the opportunity to do every day! Meeting and talking to Titus has been a wonderful opportunity and I think will go a long way to take them out of their comfort zones and broaden their horizons."
