Work With Us
I don't get into trouble anymore; I've had my taste of prison. The people from Rainer were the only ones who came to see me.

DCSF LAC Mentoring
Rainer, in a strategic partnership with Prince’s Trust and the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation are leading on the DfES commissioned (now the Department for Children Schools and Families) national pilot for the provision of mentoring for looked after children 10-15 yrs.
The overall aim of the project is the establishment of a pilot of adult (18 and over) to child mentoring for looked after children in foster care and residential settings. The target for the pilot is 600 mentoring relationships to be delivered by March 2008. In order to deliver the high number of mentoring relationships required by this project, Rainer has commissioned 24 providers, in two rounds of bidding, to become part of the pilot and deliver the mentoring for young people.
The DCSF are keen for the pilot to highlight outcomes in respect of:
- Supporting the young person’s educational aspirations and achievements;
- Increasing the mentee’s self-esteem, confidence and sense of wellbeing;
- Encouraging their increased participation in social networks and group and community activities.
In doing so, they are keen for the relationships to include opportunities for:
- Young people to participate regularly in social networks and group activities.
- For the mentor and young people to meet together regularly for a mentor-mentee discussion to focus on areas such as practical life skills, school work etc.
